Happy New Year from the Hillcrest Community Volunteer Patrol! 🎉

January 09, 2025•2 min read

As we step into 2025, we hope your year is off to a fantastic start. We’re excited to share updates about the Hillcrest Community Volunteer Patrol and our plans for making our neighborhood safer and more connected.

First, an apology: our original kickoff date for the patrol was postponed due to some logistical hurdles. While we’re disappointed by the delay, we’re happy to announce that the Hillcrest Community Volunteer Patrol will officially launch the weekend of January 31st and February 1st! 🚀

This extra time has allowed us to fine-tune our approach, strengthen our plans, and ensure the patrol starts off on the best possible footing.

What is the Hillcrest Community Volunteer Patrol?

The Hillcrest Community Volunteer Patrol is a community-driven initiative dedicated to fostering safety, trust, and connection in our vibrant neighborhood.

Here’s what we do:

  • Neighborhood Patrols: Our volunteers walk through Hillcrest during peak hours to increase visibility, deter crime, and engage with the community.

  • Event Support: We help organize and run events that bring neighbors together and promote safety awareness.

  • Communications: Volunteers assist with sharing updates, managing online resources, and ensuring everyone stays informed.

Our mission is simple: to protect and support the LGBTQ+ community and our allies. This isn’t about being Hillcrest's Hall Monitors — it’s about being good neighbors and community members. Together, we aim to create a welcoming, safe environment for everyone in Hillcrest.

Why Volunteer?

By joining the patrol, you’re helping create meaningful change right here in Hillcrest. Your efforts will:

  • Strengthen our sense of community.

  • Show solidarity with your neighbors.

  • Make Hillcrest a safer, more connected place for everyone.

Let’s Make 2025 a Year of Positive Change!

We’re thrilled to finally get the Hillcrest Community Volunteer Patrol off the ground later this month, and we couldn’t do it without your support. Whether you’re joining a patrol, helping with events, or simply spreading the word, every contribution makes a difference.

Let’s kick off the year by coming together as a community and making Hillcrest safer and stronger than ever.

Thank you for your patience, enthusiasm, and commitment—we’ll see you on the streets (or at an event) soon!

With gratitude,
Bea Bautista & Andrea Luke
